Pormpuraaw is the 7th remote station to join the Black Star radio network.  After a long night drive on a dusty road, our tech Gerry Pyne got down and dirty the next day and installed the station connection into Black Star.We met up with Sticks,  the new broadcaster and a few other potential broadcasters.  Sticks picked up the workings of Black Star really quickly; the new technology not an issue for him.

The Council have been proactive in getting a BDSL line into the studio, allowing the Black Star to be fed into the Simian play out system. The Pormpuraaw community listeners are now experiencing a big city sound for the first time in years.

Pormpuraaw is the 7th remote station to become part of the network and the installation of Black Star is timely, as funding for the previous satellite service bed program has been cut.  If you would like to listen to Black Star just follow the link- look to your right!
